Wisconsin Young Artists Compete: The Final Forte is a free concert that will be broadcast live at 7:00 p.m. on PBS Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public Radio on Wednesday, April 13. The concert is FREE and open to the public. Audience members must register in advance, and arrive by 6:45 p.m. on Wed., April 13, prior to the beginning of the live broadcast.

This extraordinary event is an opportunity to experience the beauty of musical expression, the drama of competition and the inspiring tale of dreams come true as four gifted young artists vie for top honors in the final round of the 2022 Bolz Young Artist Competition. Broadcast from Overture Hall at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, the concert features the magnificent Madison Symphony Orchestra led by Associate Conductor Kyle Knox. Zak Chen will perform the third movement of the Sibelius Violin Concerto. Jane Story will perform the first movement of Lalo’s Symphony Espagnole. Ellen Zhou will also perform the Lalo Symphony Espagnole, Movement 1. Clark Snavely will perform the first movement of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. Read bios of the four finalists online. The Final Forte competitors will each perform as a soloist with the Madison Symphony Orchestra in Overture Hall:

The Final Forte is open to the public and free to attend, but reservations are required. Click here to RSVP online. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and close at 6:45 p.m. due to the broadcast and the event begins at 7 p.m. No tickets will be issued. Seating is general admission in select areas of the hall.

 

Health and Safety Information

○ Masks Required while in Overture Hall: As of April 4, Overture Center announced that wearing a facial mask is optional, but recommended, while in the building. The Madison Symphony Orchestra will continue to require that masks be worn while in Overture Hall for the entirety of this performance.

○ Proof of Vaccination Required: All who enter the Overture Center building must show proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test. Patrons not vaccinated, including children under age 12, are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from within 72 hours prior to the performance. Please visit overture.org/health for more information on masks, vaccination proof, negative COVID test criteria, and more.

○ New Overture Security Measures: Overture will be utilizing new walk-through security screening technology that you will be required to move through on arrival. This should eliminate lines and allow foot traffic to quickly flow into the spaces. Additionally, large bags and backpacks are prohibited from entering the theater and can be checked after being inspected.
