Apply for the 2024 Bolz Young Artist Competition!
The Bolz Young Artist Competition is a highly-regarded statewide competition in which Wisconsin’s young musicians compete for scholarships and the opportunity to perform as soloists with the MSO. The competition is open to Wisconsin residents in grades 9–12. The four semifinalists compete in The Final Forte on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in Overture Hall. Our spectacular annual Christmas concerts have become a beloved musical holiday tradition in Madison. This year includes everything you’ve come to expect: uplifting choral performances by the Madison Symphony Chorus, Madison Youth Choirs, and a rousing Gospel climax led by John DeMain and the Mt. Zion Gospel Choir with the entire cast. Two dynamic vocal soloists, Madison-based soprano Vanessa Becerra and baritone Craig Irvin, will join us to celebrate the start of the holiday season. Out at the Symphony
Friday, December 6
Connect with members of the LGBTQIA+ community and friends at Out at the Symphony on Friday, December 6. This special event offers an opportunity to meet MSO Musicians, Music Director John DeMain, and other special guests. Tickets are $55 and include a Circle-level concert ticket to A Madison Symphony Christmas, plus an exclusive post-concert reception with hors d’oeuvres and complimentary beverages. Madison Ballet: The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is a holiday fairy tale about a young girl, Clara Stahlbaum, and her favorite Christmas. Her parents are hosting their annual Christmas Eve Party, with guests who’ve come from around the world. Clara’s mysterious Godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, arrives and charms Clara and the guests with magic tricks and life-sized dancing mechanical dolls.
