This beautiful historic Italianate home was built in 1854 on the shores of Lake Mendota. In 1883 it became the governor’s residence until 1950, housing 18 Wisconsin governors. The mansion was recently refurbished and opened as an inn. In the 1870s the home housed a violinist of international repute. The musical tradition continues with a performance by MSO violinists Tim Kamps and Laura Mericle.
