Open Rehearsals

The Madison Symphony Orchestra is one of the few orchestras in the nation to welcome the public into select rehearsals, free of charge. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to experience a working symphony in action. We encourage you to bring aspiring young musicians in your life to see what happens behind the scenes as our guest artists and orchestra prepare for concert performances.

We have two open rehearsals currently scheduled:

Thursday, November 8, 2018, starting at 7:00 p.m.
This is the final rehearsal leading up to the “Remembering Lenny” November 9, 10 and 11 concert performances. The program coincides with the 100-year celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s birth, and features Pianist Christopher Taylor. Discover more about Remembering Lenny. Seating is limited. RSVP instructions found below.

Thursday, April 11, 2019
The final rehearsal before “An Auspicious Debut: Marc-André Hamelin” April 12, 13 and 14 concerts that feature Mr. Hamelin performing two European impressionistic compositions — Strauss’ Burleske, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G. Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 and Debussy’s La Mer. complete the poetic program. Discover more about An Auspicious Debut: Marc-André Hamelin.
