Blue, a new opera by Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson, had its world premiere at The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York on Sunday, July 14. Our own Music Director John DeMain conducted the orchestra in this premiere, which garnered favorable reviews from a number of sources. Update as of June 17, 2020: The Music Critics Association of North America announced that composer Jeanine Tesori and librettist Tazewell Thompson are the recipients of its 2020 award for best new opera for “Blue.” Read more.
