Chelsea Chen returned to Overture Hall Tuesday, February 20, 2024 with a program featuring some of the most captivating standards for organ. She brought a variety of composers and works to the stage including Debussy, Vierne, Bach, Weaver, and Duruflé (and maybe a surprise John Williams encore). She also composed and performed an original work titled Three Taiwanese Folksongs! Read below to see what our patrons had to say about this phenomenal concert!

Hear what the audience had to say…

“Her technique is exquisite — and her warmth as she plays is so very evident. She draws you “in” by her movements as she plays.”
.
“I brought a visitor from Chicago with me. She could not say enough positive things about the concert and the organ. It made me feel so good and proud of what Madison has to offer!”
.
“The excellent French program Chelsea put together, spiced with a major Bach work of course and the Weaver’s take on For All The Saints …Go Marching In plus Star Wars!!! The informative introductions to the pieces were a bonus. Greg’s gratitude expressed at the beginning set the tone for a most enjoyable evening. Then there is Overture Hall itself, home to the Mighty Klais. This combination of assets so nearby seems quite extraordinary👍🏼👍🏼”
.
“Her choice of pieces and performance of them was so joyful and uplifting.”
.
“The personal stories, and musicality and fun of the performer. What an exquisite experience!”
.
“In addition to being a wonderful organist, Chelsea had a personality and style that was fun to observe!”
.
“I really enjoyed the variety of the pieces that Chelsea Chen played. I know that there will always be at least one piece by Bach in an organ concert 🙂 But she choose a number of contrasting pieces which made for a great concert. I really liked the folksongs from Taiwan, and I loved the encore.”
