A Madison Symphony Christmas
December 1-3

The holiday season officially begins December 1-3 with A Madison Symphony Christmas in Overture Hall! Opera stars Evelyn Saavedra and Limmie Pulliam join the Madison Symphony ChorusMadison Youth Choirs, and Mount Zion Gospel Choir in collaboration with John DeMain and the Madison Symphony Orchestra for our annual Christmas spectacular. Featuring classical styles in the first half and popular holiday favorites in the second half, plus a carol singalong at the end, this annual tradition is fun for the whole family!

Out at the Symphony
Friday, Dec. 1

Connect with members of the LGBTQIA+ community and friends at Out at the Symphony on Friday, December 1. This special event offers an opportunity to meet MSO Musicians, Music Director John DeMain, and other special guests. Tickets are $50 and include a Circle-level concert ticket, plus an exclusive post-concert reception with hors d’oeuvres and complimentary beverages.

Free Community Carol Sing
Saturday, Dec. 2, 11:00 a.m.

Bring your pipes, and your friends and family, to raise a joyful noise with the Overture Concert Organ. Always a fan favorite, the Carol Sing will get everyone in the mood for Christmas. Join Madison Symphony Orchestra Principal Organist Greg Zelek for this wonderful event that is sure to delight audiences of all ages. MSO Carol Sings are free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, and no tickets or reservations are needed. Each event takes place in Overture Hall and lasts 45 minutes to one hour.

Join the Hunt Quartet for two FREE performances at Capitol Lakes and Oakwood Village on December 10 and 11. Members of the group include MSO Musicians Paran Amiriniazari, Hillary Hempel, Jennifer Paulson, and Trace Johnson. Apply for the 2023 Bolz Young Artist Competition!

The Bolz Young Artist Competition is a highly-regarded statewide competition in which Wisconsin’s young musicians compete for scholarships and the opportunity to perform as soloists with the MSO. The competition is open to Wisconsin residents in grades 9–12. The four semifinalists compete in The Final Forte on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in Overture Hall.

Mt. Zion Gospel Carols
Saturday, December 16

The Mount Zion Gospel Choir, under the direction of Tamera and Leotha Stanley, present Gospel Carols at City Church, 4909 E. Buckeye Rd., on Saturday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. Come hear a variety of Christmas carols sung in a gospel style with a Stanley twist. Learn more and buy tickets.

Four Seasons Theatre: All is Calm
December 7-17

The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence — a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into “No Man’s Land” singing Stille Nacht. Children’s Theater of Madison: A Christmas Carol

CTM’s signature production returns to the Capitol Theater in full Victorian splendor to celebrate the holiday season. Madsion Ballet: The Nutcracker
December 15-24

The passion of the holiday classic The Nutcracker, choreographed by Sara Stewart Schumann, returns to Madison! This magical wonderland, where flowers waltz, snowflakes twirl, and enchantments come to life, is accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s instantly recognizable music performed by the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.
