Tonight, Tomorrow and Sunday: American Rhapsody feat. Terrence Wilson, Piano

“Welcome to my 30th anniversary season and the 98th season of the Madison Symphony Orchestra. Throughout this season, I’ve included some of my favorite composers and favorite compositions. Since I am an American-born and American-trained musician, as well as having had a largely American-based career, I thought I would begin this anniversary season with an all-American concert. Four giants of the 20th century: Aaron Copland, Howard Hanson, George Gershwin, and John Adams are featured in our opening concerts. Appalachian SpringRhapsody in Blue and The Chairman Dances are works with which I have had a special relationship. Receiving requests over the years to program Hanson’s romantic second symphony, I thought this would be a wonderful way to end this program. Indeed, it will be the first performance of this work in over half a century! And I so look forward to collaborating with Terrence Wilson for the Gershwin masterpiece.”
