Madison Symphony Orchestra Presents “Favorites of Mine & Your Choice!” Featuring Dvořák’s New World Symphony, and Cellist Steven Isserlis  March 15, 16, and 17, in Overture Hall

Madison, Wis.– The Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) celebrates the continuation of John DeMain’s 30th anniversary season with “Favorites of Mine & Your Choice!” at Overture Hall on March 15, 16, and 17, 2024. The concerts feature the result of voting by subscribers from three popular works, with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, Op. 95 From the New World emerging as the favorite. Cellist Steven Isserlis returns to perform Dmitri Kabalevsky’s Cello Concerto No. 2. The concert opens with Loco by Jennifer Higdon.

“I wanted a popular symphonic work to be featured in the second half of these concerts, and Dvořák’s New World Symphony was what subscribers chose last summer as their top pick,” Music Director John DeMain exclaimed. “The first half of the concert opens with a fun work titled Loco by Jennifer Higdon, followed by the return of another favorite artist of mine, Steven Isserlis, who has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as one of the worlds foremost cellists. He will perform Kabalevskys second cello concerto, a premiere for the MSO.”
