Madison, Wis. October 1, 2017 — The Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) opens its new 2017-2018 Overture Organ Series with the debut performance of Organist Ken Cowan and Violinist Lisa Shihoten.

Brilliant Canadian Organist Ken Cowan and Violinist Lisa Shihoten make their Overture Hall debut with a virtuosic program of music for organ and violin. This husband and wife team perform a program of astonishing music, including works by Vitali, Berlioz, Whitlock, Saint-Saëns, and Ken Cowan’s own transcription of Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto with Lisa Shihoten as soloist!

The concert is Monday, October 23, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in Overture Hall, 201 State Street.

This performance is sponsored by Friends of the Overture Concert Organ. Support for all Overture Concert Organ programs is provided by the Diane Endres Ballweg Fund. With a gift from Pleasant T. Rowland, the Madison Symphony Orchestra commissioned the Overture Concert Organ, which is the stunning backdrop of all MSO concerts.
