Behind the Music: An MSOL Discovery Talk

Join us for an evening of music insight with Norman Gilliland—beloved PBS radio host and historian—as he guides us through the theme of “Heartbeat and Triumph.”

Together, we’ll explore:

🎼 Gabriela Lena Frank’s “Escaramuza” – Inspired by the fierce, all-female synchronized equestrian sport, this piece pulses with rhythm, resilience, and cultural pride.
🎭 Strauss’s “Der Rosenkavalier” – A dazzling comic opera full of wit, romance, and nostalgia, co-created with his masterful librettist.
🎹 Brahms’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major” – A sweeping, symphonic masterpiece that blends passionate piano with rich orchestral color.

After the talk, stay for appetizers, drinks, and conversation with Norman and fellow music lovers!

📝 Registration opens on this page on November 14, 2025 – Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot early.

We can’t wait to share this evening of discovery and delight with you!
