Meet the Winner of our 2021 Fall Youth Concerto Competition
In October, several young artists competed in our 2021 Fall Youth Concerto Competition. Angelina Chang, an eighth grader at Velma Hamilton Middle School, took first place. She played Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, C minor, 1st movement. Cordelia Momo Fredrickson and Lorenz Fradkin-Annen both received honorable mentions at the competition. Congratulations, Angelina, Cordelia, and Lorenz!

CTM’s grandest production of the year is back on the Capitol Theater stage, with all the trimmings for the holidays. Step back in time to Victorian England as the miser Scrooge learns it’s never too late to open your heart, and a young boy’s life is forever changed. Madison Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker returns to Overture Hall in 2021 with a holiday performance that will dazzle like no other. A favorite of audiences of all ages, The Nutcracker seamlessly blends Tchaikovsky’s famous score, played by the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, with all-new choreography to celebrate Madison Ballet’s 40th Anniversary Season.
This story follows young Clara as she dreams of traveling one winter’s night with her beloved Nutcracker doll. Escorted by swirling snowflakes and her mysterious godfather Drosselmeyer, they meet a cast of colorful characters from far-away lands in an adventure sure to bring out the child in all of us.
