The Madison Symphony Orchestra League’s “Symphony at Sunset” is a newly reimagined summer benefit for the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Education and Community Engagement Programs (previously known as Concert on the Green).
MINGLE AND LEARN – Reception starting at 5:00 p.m. with passed hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Learn more about MSO education programs as you mingle with friends.
LISTEN AND DINE – A 50-minute “DeMain does Broadway” concert at 6:00 p.m. by members of the Madison Symphony Orchestra led by Maestro DeMain, in his 30th anniversary season. The program features selections from beloved Broadway shows and guest artist Jane Story, a winner of the 2024 Bolz Young Artist Competition, The Final Forte. An elegant plated dinner will follow the concert.
STAY AND SUPPORT – Participate in a live auction and end the evening with a cocktail in hand as you enjoy a dazzling sunset over the lake!
Complimentary parking will be available at Hartmeyer Ice Arena, 1834 Commercial Ave, Madison. Complimentary shuttles will be running between the Ice Arena and Burrows park for the duration of the event.

Jane Story, 17, is a junior from Stevens Point. She began violin studies at the age of four and currently studies with Dr. Anna Cromwell at UW–Stevens Point. She was the second place winner of The Final Forte 2024.
Jane made her solo orchestral debut at age 12 with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and has since performed as a soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra on both the Stars of Tomorrow Concert and October Youth Concert Series, and with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra, Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, Civic Symphony of Green Bay, Birch Creek Symphony, and Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra. She was the first prize winner of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s 2023 Audrey G. Baird Stars of Tomorrow Competition and a finalist of The Final Forte 2022. Other awards include first prize in the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra’s Betty Frost Jenkins Young Artist Concerto Competition (2023), Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Concerto Competition (2022), Civic Symphony of Green Bay’s Miroslav Pansky Concerto Competition (2021), Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Bach Double Competition (2020, 2019), Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Fall Youth Concerto Competition (2018), and Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Program’s Concerto Competition (2018); and finalist and recipient of the Ranheim Award at the Minnesota Orchestra YPSCA’s Concerto Competition (2023). Jane is a 2023 Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist, and appeared on NPR’s From the Top, as well as the Daily Joy video series.
Jane is currently in her second season as a member of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, where she performs in both the Youth Orchestra and the Pondrom Piano Quartet. Last season, as a member of the WYSO Pondrom String Quartet, Jane received the Silver Medal and the BIPOC prize at the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition (2023) and an honorable mention in the Chicago National Chamber Music Competition (2023), and appeared on WPR’s The Midday. In the summer of 2023, she attended Center Stage Strings.
In addition to violin, Jane is currently in her fourth year of studying piano with Rachel Snyder Turney. Outside of music, she enjoys math, musical theater, and watching movies.
