Principal Organist Greg Zelek closes out the 21/22 Organ Season with a performance alongside The Diapason Brass quintet and timpani on Friday, May 20.

“In my first of many collaborations with fellow Madison musicians, I am excited to perform alongside The Diapason Brass quintet and timpani in a concert that will pair our Mighty Klais with some of the loudest instruments in the orchestra. This program of music written for a variety of pairings will include Gigout’s Grand Choeur Dialogue, a transcription of Rachmaninoff’s famous Vocalise, and an arrangement of Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor for organ and timpani.” — Greg Zelek

Join the Hunt Quartet, of the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Up Close & Musical® program, for a FREE performance at Oakwood Village on Monday, May 16. Members of the group include MSO Musicians Paran Amiriniazari, Hillary Hempel, Jennifer Paulson, and Derek Handley. Up Close and Musical brings the power and beauty of classical music into the classrooms of elementary schools throughout Dane County. Individual quartet members visit K-3 classrooms at partner elementary schools throughout Dane County, conducting interactive lessons that teach the musical concepts of melody, rhythm, expression, and form. Just Bach Monthly Concert

Just Bach is a monthly concert series in Madison, celebrating the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Founded to share the immense range of Bach’s vocal and instrumental repertoire with the Madison community at large, Just Bach features musicians — including several MSO musicians — who play on period instruments using historically-informed performance practice, bringing the music to life in the manner and style that Bach intended. Concerts will be in-person and recorded but not live-streamed; the recorded concert video will be posted on the Just Bach YouTube channel on the Sunday afternoon following the concert.
